SoulTrain.com Profile: Andy Mineo

“Me and my DJ recently finished in Antigua and he was like, ‘I can’t believe rap got us here.’ We’re on the beach and I was like, ‘Rap serving God got us here,’ explains Reach Records MC Andy Mineo. When SoulTrain.com got ahold of the New York native, he was preparing for a flight to Argentina, one of several different countries he’s performed in.

Mineo has seen plenty of successes since his days rhyming under the rap alias C-Lite. 2013 alone saw his debut album Heroes For Sale sell over 28,000 copies in the first week and make a killing on the Billboard charts. That means debuting at number 11 on the 200 album list, number four on the Top Rap Album, number two on the Indie Album chart and number one the Top Christian Album Chart. Featuring singles including “AYO” and “You Will,” the album was praised for Mineo’s clever rhyming ability rooted in Christian morals while sonically blending a host of genres effortlessly. From the looks of things, it’s only gotten better from there. In January, Mineo dropped his Neverland EP which made the top spot of hip-hop/rap chart and second in overall albums on iTunes.
