Only three years into her professional career, Toronto-based singer/songwriter Veronica Domingues has already created a considerable buzz. Already dubbed by SoulBounce.com as a potential heir to the “Latin Soul throne,” Domingues’ inventive genre blending can be traced to her unique upbringing. “My parents came from Portugal, so they always played Portuguese music like Fado and Pimba around the house as a way to expose the culture to their children,” said the 24-year-old songstress who also cites American icons Shania Twain and Whitney Houston as childhood obsessions. Though high school choir would be her only outlet, she began making the talent show rounds after dropping out of college, including the Amateur Singing Contest with John Santos, in which she claimed victory.
