A good friend of mine Arif S. Kinchen invited me to a screening of hilarious independent mocku-doc Con Artists starring Yuri Lowenthal ( Ben 10: Alien Force), Tara Platt (Naruto) and Boris Kievsky (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3). Playing out like a geeked out version of Borat, the film has Kievsky (serving also as writer/director/producer) following Lowenthal and Platt (both getting writing/producer credit also) around as the two run the comic convention circuit. Con Artists makes the right moves by unapologetically immersing itself in the culture of the popular conventions while having fun with the day-to-day lives of the focal characters. Making the film interesting is how mundane yet normal both Lowenthal and Platt's lives seem even in their niche celebritydom, something that's perfectly played upon as the film draws to it's conclusion.  There's always a self awareness in every shot that works on so many levels.

Since the early days of hip-hop, one of the genre’s biggest criticisms is its musical validity. Is sampling just lazy copying? Does Fruityloops usage make one any less of a musician? Or should listeners just rely on a song’s enjoyability? This is what makes Terrace...

Frank Ocean, Ne-Yo, Keri Hilson and The Dream all had successful careers in songwriting before taking further steps to become acclaimed solo artists within their own rights. Looking to make that transition from behind the scenes to the ears of listeners is Los Angeles’ own...

Rapsody&9thWonder   Current industry politics within Hip-Hop has made it increasingly difficult for MCs having two x chromosomes to prosper at greater numbers. One of the few women that’s been given wholesome respect on par with male peers is non other than Snow Hill, N.C. native Rapsody. How far does that respect go? She’s found herself collaborating with some of Hip-Hop’s greatest including Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Big K.R.I.T., Raekwon and Wale. Plus, she’s done it by being 100 percent herself. This is the same MC that proclaimed “We can’t afford Maybach, we in Accords.” Rapsody has come a long way from co-founding Hip-Hop collective Kooley High to being one of the brightest MCs to come from 9th Wonder’s Jamla Records imprint. 2012 even saw Ms. Evans (first name Marlanna) release two critically acclaimed projects through The Black Mamba EP and full length debut The Idea of Beautiful.  Now that she’s solidified herself a spot on the table of rap’s elite lyricist, Rapsody has decided to pull in bigger muscle with the Gangsta Grillz presented She Got Game hosted by DJ Drama. Starting with her debut mixtape Return of the B-Girl in 2010, Rapsody has continued to evolve and Wale assisted single for She Got Game “Dark Knight,” she isn’t stopping anytime soon. Rapsody took time to speak with me about her upcoming project with DJ Drama She Got Game and some of her biggest fan moments.

Got an interesting email regarding concert streaming service 2vLive.  From the sounds of it, this may be the evolution of the live telecast.  Can't attend the Cee-lo concert? Set up an account, pay a fee and see it from the comforts of your computer or...
